Recently, I had the opportunity to read Inspire Your FitBehavior. I really believe that you can start your fitness journey at any age, weight, or fitness level, just as the folks that wrote this book, so I wanted to share some of what I read with you.
According to the FitBehavior site, “[they] aim to inspire the “why” and “how” for fitness behavior change with real-life testimonials and messages of successful models. Story-telling is a powerful behavior-change tool that we utilize to inspire action.”
This book isn’t your typical how-to book which has a set plan for everyone to follow. It is filled with inspirational stories from individuals of all ages and walks of life. They share their stories of how they changed their lives, becoming the athlete they never thought they could be. The book focuses not only on physical fitness, but on how to have fun; to forget your fears and embrace the challenges. After reading the stories in this book, I’m sure many people will be setting new goals for themselves.
Another thing I loved was that they took common excuses that we give for NOT doing anything, and gave an encouraging affirmation after them. For example, excuse: “I don’t know how to start.” Answer: “You’ve already started. You’re reading this. Start with a dream. Envision it. Write it down. Open your mind and the right people and situations will appear to take you on your journey.” – Faith Ireland, Power lifter
This eBook not only has stories from real people, but videos from each of them as well. You will be inspired, knowing that they are just ordinary people, like you and me, who have overcome adversities, obesity, disease and many other challenges. Ages range from 30’s – 90’s and each has faced and overcome their own challenges to chase their dreams; from playing ping pong professionally to climbing mountains, or even running their first marathon at the age of 42. Age is no longer an excuse! See what they’re saying – see video here.
The New Year is just around the corner and many people are looking for ways to improve their fitness. If you find yourself making excuses and need some extra push, this book may be just for you!
What are some challenges and/or dreams that you are ready to conquer?
