Wow, I cannot believe that 2012 is coming to a close. It seems that I blinked once, and it was over. As I look back on the year, I am very grateful for the friends I have made, opportunities that were presented, and obstacles that were overcome.
Today I want to share a few of my favorite fitness toys, apps, sites and workouts that I tried in 2012.
This year I was able to attend a fitness conference, thanks to Click Protein Espresso Drink. It gave me the opportunity to meet some fabulous fitness bloggers that you really should check out! Carla from MizFitOnline, Tamara from FitKnitchick, Toni from RunningLovingLiving, Emily from SkinnyEmmie, Alyse and Jamie from FitApproach, and Lynda from Healthy Hoboken Girl, just to name a few.
I also fell in love with the clothing from MPG Performance. If you are looking for awesome workout pants – this is the place!
Some of my favorite new fitness toys came from Ugi, Harbinger, RKS Kettlebell, Corebody Reformer, and Performance Systems, Bodymedia Fit, and Fitbit. By the way, Fitbit is a great way to track calories burned and steps taken for under $99.
Some of my favorite fitness apps included Nike Training Club, Tabata Trainer, My Fitness Pal, Lose It, and Workout Trainer. A new one to try remindme Health and Fitness – it reminds you when to eat, what to eat and when to workout. It also tracks calories in/out. All available for free in iTunes.
What I’m trying now – my new FT80 from Polar. And I am Lov-Lov-LOVING it! There will be a full review next week!
Some of my favorite DVD’s I received were from Acacia Fitness. They sent me Strong and Sculpted by Canyon Ranch (love), Total Body Sculpting by Spark People and Ultimate Kettlebells for Beginners. The Spark people and Canyon Ranch DVD’s came with recipe booklets!
I also received a kettlebell and DVD package from RKS Kettlebells – which I love!
This year I was very lucky as Figure Pro Christy Allen took me on as a client. OMG, she kicked my butt with the workouts she planned for me! I dropped my body fat to 17% – although during my travels in Sept. and Oct., as well as the holidays, it went up to 19% – time to get back on track! You can find some of her workouts here.
I also tried several new workouts for fun – kettlebell training, metabolic training, and the new toys at the gym – a Nexersys boxing machine and kickboxing bags. You can find my Metabolic workout here.
I’m looking forward to planning my goals for 2013. This year, I am going to leave out the goal “finding balance” – in the past month, I have finally found it. What works for me is balancing life one day at a time. Its ok if one part of my life takes over for a few days, it’s inevitable that it happens. Now I don’t stress it because I understand that it will “balance” back out. I also put a “check” in place. At the end of each week I review events that took place and see what may have been neglected. It becomes my priority for the present time, and then I go from there. As the old saying goes, “it’s all good”.
